Would You Like to Own Some of My Weaving?

Hi, Everyone! This coming Friday I will be auctioning off two projects that I have been working on for some time. Both have been woven with tons of intention, love and craftsmanship. I have named them both for Grateful Dead songs in honor of my trip to the Gorge this past summer to complete Josiah’s journey for him.

They will be offered in the style of a silent auction on my Remember the Birds Facebook page by placing bids in the comment section once they are posted. Both shawls will be posted at 6 pm pst this Friday, November 23rd and the silent auction will run until 6 pm pst Sunday. (I do apologize for not holding it here on my site, but because this is not a merchant site, my Facebook page will be easier.)

Visit my Facebook page, Remember the Birds, for the auction.

The above shawl is named Fire On The Mountain after Josiah’s favorite song growing up. The flame design is woven in two shade of red along with yellow and gold.

Both pieces measure 13.5″ wide by 72″ long (not including fringe) and were handwoven on my 4-shaft Schacht loom in 100% bamboo, a hypo-allergenic and renewable fiber. Bamboo has excellent drape (the way it hangs effortlessly) and is cool in the summer while warm in the winter.

The shawl below is named Sunshine Daydream as the color and design reminded me of the sun. The sunbursts are comprised of pale yellow, red and azure blue. The blend of colors are nearly iridescent, casting different colors depending on the angle you look at it from. It was a challenge to photograph!

I am currently working hard on the book and I am finding myself nearing the end of the second draft. The content I am currently producing is all new, but I do believe that I only have about five chapters to go. Once I am finished, I will begin further edits while also putting together my book proposal so that I can start looking for a literary agent.

The weaving is a labor of love (and helps pay the bills!) You can see more of my weaving on the “Prayer Shawls tab.

If you’d like to read a recent piece that wove together my art and grief, my blog post The Tangled Lives We Live is one that came straight from my heart. I think you’ll enjoy it!

Feel free to ask questions in the comments section below and I will be sure to answer them for you!

Visit Remember the Birds Facebook Page and hit “follow” so that you are ready for the auction before Friday!

Thanks so much for all of your loving support!!

All my best to you, your friends and your loved ones this holiday season,
Liz
